Why the vdonxt awards
The entire vdonxt convention – conference, exhibition, awards, master classes - has been created to bring together the people with a stake in growing the digital video business.
Within that perspective, the vdonxt awards are a first attempt to award the best work – as well as identify and celebrate the men and women who are playing a big role in pushing the growth of this nascent form.
Because digital video is so young, there are only two categories in which work can be entered in the first vdonxt awards.
However, there are three ‘Person of the Year’ categories. That’s because, at this juncture, digital video needs extraordinary champions who can aid in the creation of fantastic content that resonates with consumers – and marketers. Anyone can nominate names for the following ‘Person of the Year’ categories:
vdonxt Person of the Year – New Media
vdonxt Person of the Year – Content Creator
So come on, help us find the names that deserve celebration!
Creative use of digital video as part of a brand campaign. (This category is open only to films that were created for digital or were digital-first; mere re-runs of TV ad films will not qualify.)
This seeks to recognise great cases of brand integration in the relatively new format of web series. The winner will be one where a brand has been woven seamlessly – and yet memorably – into a multi-part video story.
Digital video is an emerging form of creative expression. As an advocate of digital video, vdonxt seeks to celebrate outstanding efforts by individuals and companies to further the cause of the medium through dramatic or creative effort.
An aspirant for vdonxt Person of the Year – New Media would be someone who has made a significant contribution to the growth of the digital video business. The nominee should have placed big bets on the medium, have been a pioneer and approached the task in an innovative way. This category is open to business leaders in the VOD/OTT space, web publishers and managers of creative talent.
A nominee for vdonxt Creative Person of the Year would be a content creator who has created such interesting work on video that it has encouraged people to spend more time online. The work must be original, standout and should have succeeded in gaining a substantial fan following.
For categories Brand Video & Brand Integration - Web Series, the jury will be advised to keep in mind the following parameters before judging the final impact:
An internal afaqs! editorial committee will scrutinise the applications and create a shortlist of candidates for each of the categories to be submitted. The committee may seek the assistance of experts as it attempts to create a manageable shortlist.
