Essentially from a theater background, Akarsh Khurana's writing career began right after college when he worked as a script assistant on projects with Ramesh Sippy, Raj Kanwar, and Raman Kumar. The first feature film he wrote was Krrish (2006) on which he was also an assistant director. Following that he co-wrote the screenplays of U Me aur Hum, Kites, Krrish 3 and even Humshakals. Realising that he had to create his own identity, in 2014 Akarsh wrote and directed Real FM, a television film for Anurag Basu, which was well received. In 2016 he co-wrote TVF's Tripling with Sumeet Vyas which went on to become hugely successful.
